With the quarantine in full swing, it’s a great time to do some spring cleaning – and this includes editing your cleaning supplies. I wanted to share a few of my favorite eco-friendly cleaning tools for the kitchen. Not only are these tools more beautiful than their synthetic counterparts, but they are also better for the environment.
Many items used to clean the kitchen are made of plastic or synthetic fibers and are created to be tossed– most of these cannot be recycled or repurposed. But even before reaching the landfill, they begin to breakdown – leaving microplastics in our water supply. Fortunately, better choices are available and you can effortlessly lower your carbon footprint by selecting items created from sustainably sourced bamboo, items with replaceable heads, and linens made from natural fibers. If you are partial to sponges, I suggest a walnut version.
I love to make everything in my home part of a ritual, and this certainly extends to cleaning.
